About the Artist
My romance with paint and color leads me to create imaginary maps and scenes that use strong palettes and painterly effects to stimulate the senses of those who view my work. The way the mind creates imagery and meaning from this alone is fascinating to me, and one of my favorite reasons for creating.
Bailey Kennedy is a contemporary painter living and creating in Raleigh, North Carolina. She started painting and drawing as soon as she was old enough to grip a brush, participated in multiple art classes and clubs in high school, and in 2018 she graduated from the University of North Carolina - Wilmington where she studied studio art and business.
Preferring to work abstractly, she uses sensual color palettes and textural details as well as painterly effects to create map-like works that stimulate viewers’ imaginations. Apart from these “color landscapes,” Bailey also dabbles in mixed media collage, photography, and ink drawing. When she isn’t painting or drawing you can find her gardening, listening to music, or playing with her cat Athena.
